Beginning on 16 June 2007 documenta, the most important exhibition of contemporary art in the world, will invite its audience to Kassel for the twelfth time. It will be an opportunity to engage with contemporary art, whereby “contemporary” does not mean that the works were created yesterday. They must be meaningful for us today. documenta 12 seeks to expose historical lines of development in art as well as unexpected contemporaneities. It attempts to highlight the special character of artistic intelligence, which manifests itself in painting and performance as well as in cooking and fashion.
