The International Art Exhibition - since 1895 a central appointment to the contemporary art world - coincides with the history of the Biennale itself. This exhibition has come today to its 52nd edition, with the title Think with the senses - Feel with the mind. Art in the present tense, and it has always presented great thematic shows which testified and brought into prominence new artists and art movements, transforming the event into a great workshop of ideas. Over time, the Pavilions of the Participating Countries came into being, immediately around the Padiglione Italia. For some time past, the Exhibition's display also takes place in the spaces of the Arsenale, together with the new Italian Pavilion, since 2006. In doing so, the Biennale arranges increasingly big exhibitions (over 22.000 sq.m) which get more and more international (a record of 70 Countries in 2005) and which are always dedicated to contemporary art avant-garde.
